Reduce the likelihood
of urinary tract infections

THIS TRIAL IS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUFFERED FROM URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS

So what are we looking for?

We need both men and women who have experienced a urinary tract infection (UTI):


  • Are 60 years of age or older
  • Have had a UTI in the past 2 years
  • Feel comfortable, or have a caregiver who is comfortable, using a web-based program on a computer or tablet, or an application on a smartphone
  • Can easily attend appointments at Middlemore Hospital, Auckland
  • Can stop the following for 60 days - if taking antibiotics prophylactically for UTIs or antibiotics for more than 3 weeks



Additional eligibility criteria will be assessed by the study team.

What is involved in this clinical trial?

You will be required to complete a minimum of 8 study visits, some in person and some remote using a smartphone, computer or tablet.  The commitment for the study is approximately 3 years.

Study participants and/or their caregiver will be required to use either a web-based (laptop, computer or tablet) or smartphone application to record and share information with their study team. This technology is called a Mobile Health Platform (MHP) and will be used throughout the study.


Why should I consider being involved on a trial?

Research has shown that certain diseases, treatments and medications may impact people differently based on their age, gender and genetic background, including race and ethnicity. It is important to conduct research studies with diverse populations to help ensure that vaccines and medications are generally safe and effective (or the benefits outweigh the risks) for the populations that will be using them.
